BYB(2): MY ENGLISH TEACHER.

Some of the most memorable incidents of our lives happen while we are still studying in school or college. These occurrences leave behind a mark that withstands the tides of time for a long time, sometimes forever.

I always looked forward to the English class, because the teacher, who also happened to be the Head Master of our school, had a very different approach to teaching. It is hard to say what it was, but the class used to be fun. But that day as he entered the class, I was dismayed to see that I had forgotten to bring my English notebook to school. We had been assigned some work , that I had duly completed but somehow had managed to forget the notebook at home.

Now, I knew that the teacher would believe me if I told him the truth, but it so happened that all the three other students who had not been able to complete the assignment used the same excuse as mine. So, when it was my turn, I stood up and said :

"Sir, I forgot the notebook at home."

...I realized it sounded like an excuse,a lame one. The look in the teacher's eyes confirmed my fears. Luckily my house was not far from the school, and I said:

" Sir, I can get my assignment from home in no time."

He looked at me and for some reason let me go. Thankful as I was, I hurried home and got my assignment well before the class was over. When I handed the notebook to him, he smiled for a moment and then said :

" Take care, and never be a mediocre person in this mediocre world."

I have never forgotten him or his words.

@ stev :The most complex of things in life have simple solutions. All we have to do is look for them.
