A lazy day

I have been trying to think of something to post about for hours now and...nothing. Writer's block, you say; I say it might be, but then I can't complain about writer's block because :

  • I am not a writer.
  • No one is forcing me to do this, it is something I want to do. I want to write an interesting post, but I seem to be unable to do so.

Maybe, it is because it is a holiday today - October 2nd, Mahatma Gandhi's birthday - and my brain, just like my body, doesn't want to get out of the bed today. But want or not, it will have to get out.

As I write this, I begin to wonder whose brilliant idea it was to have a holiday on this day. I mean, it is the birthday of the man who during his life was an epitome of hard work, discipline and dedication to duty. And the nation, that calls him Father, celebrates his birthday by idling all day, and bringing the nation to a grinding halt. I am pretty sure there must be better ways of paying respect to the great man, and others like him, than blowing to shreds, the values and principles they held dearer than life itself.

Though it is a dry day - all alcohol shops and bars are closed - all across India today, I am sure people have enough supplies stacked away and will enjoy a beautiful evening to a lazy day. As for me, I don't drink, at least not today.

You make a wonderful point here. I'm sure you're right. Mahatma Gandhi would not want India to take the day off from work.

Quite surprising but it’s really great to see M.Gandhi on your blog. Though lot of people scoff on him I am a big fan of his philosophy.

Wanted to share the following link with you all guys. Enjoy...

Yes, it is possible--as you have done--to make ordinary thoughts interesting.

Utenzi: I think so too!

Lucky lady: I think we have quite a lot national holidays in India too.

Rohit: I still don't agree with some of his ideas, but then again some of his other ideas were really great.
