On 15th August 1947, India was reborn as an independent and sovereign republic.
Today, almost 60 years later, India still has a long way to go before it achieves what the founding fathers like Gandhi ji, Sardar Patel, Bhagat Singh, etc. had seen as India's future. In fact, in more ways than one, we seem to have taken a path different from what was envisioned by these great men.
But, today, leaving aside all debate and doubts, I wish India a very Happy sixtieth Birthday and hope there are many more glorious years to come in the country's future.
India is one of the oldest countries in existence today, and what is most remarkable about this country is that in its entire history it has never been an aggressor i.e. India has never attacked another country first.
Jai Hind!
