BYBS : Writing

(To join Blog Your Blessings Sunday, and get your name on the blogroll, click on the banner above and follow the simple instructions)

Today, I am going to take the liberty of calling myself a writer, especially since it is month of NaNoWriMo.

Writing, I feel, is not only fun but a great learning experience.

I have thought on these lines before, but never really thought it through...and that is one of the first things writing helps with. It helps a person gather the random thoughts in his head, put them together in an orderly fashion and reach a logical conclusion.

Most of my writing is based on experiences from real life, mine and of those around me. When I am living these experiences, or am being told about them, I am so busy living the experience or paying attention to the narrator that some of the details of the situation are easily missed. Only when I am writing about it later, do I get to think about the whole incident from different perspectives. That really helps in comprehending why something happened the way it did.

Another important thing about writing is that it helps us, and sometimes forces us, to don the shoes of other people. And, when we do that we begin to understand the motives behind some of their actions that might seem selfish and unfair on the surface. I strongly believe that no man or woman wants to do a wrong until and unless he or she is compelled by circumstances to do so. Writing can help us in understanding these circumstances, and in turn lead us us to help others and make friends for life.

I am sure there are many other ways in which writing is a blessing. I would love it if you would share how writing has been a blessing to you.

Well done, Neo!

This line really caught me:

I think the object of writing is to break down subject-object relationships, to create a bridge between ourselves and others through understanding and empathy.

When I think of my favorite writers, I realize they were loners or lonely people trying to do just that.

Happy blog your blessings Sunday. Good luck with the novel.

I am very sensitive, and emotional too. Writing helps me come into terms with my emotions. A lot of times I have been driven into tears, and writing how I feel usually makes me at peace.

Happy Blog your blessings!

Absolutely! I find writing especially venting of the spleen through it a great stress reliever ... :)

Great entry! Happy BYB Sunday!

Writing is the way I share issues and information that are important to me. When I was younger, I wrote poetry as a release to the pain I felt.

Good luck with the NaNoWriMo. You did it last year, so I know you can.

AND don't forget that all endearing letter you receive in the mail, connecting lives across the miles. Now a days, it could be an email but so important in communicating/touching each other's lives. When I was younger, I had 40 pen pals for many years.

I really enjoyed your post. Maybe you will still visit mine about "rest" as a blessing.

Writing is indeed a blessing it helps me organise my thoughts and get things off my mind.
And regarding your comment on technology, if you had loads of money it would be possible to keep up with it I'm sure. :)

Writing is really a blessing. It lets me get things out of my mind, and because of my writing I've met many wonderful people.

I think many of us share this... that somehow, typing allows for greater communication than simply speaking... and to have a forum is fantastic!

For me, when I write, it gives me the time to reflect and ponder on the issues that's been bugging me. I believe it does help me to come to terms with whatever it is I'm dealing with at the moment.

Great post btw! =)
