Is Global Warming for real?

One might argue this way or that, but global warming is now an undeniable fact.

As they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating; And the proof of global warming is in the fact that the temperatures of our towns and cities, wherever we may be living, are increasing every year.

For example, Shimla, the hill station where I live and which was once famous for its snow laden conifers, now receives almost negligible snowfall. A few years ago Shimla got a couple of feet of snow every year without fail. This year there has been nothing till now.

Though it has been dark and raining for the past couple of days, snow seems a remote possibility.

Global warming is a problem that is not specific to a particular region, country or continent but is a problem of the entire planet. And though it is a problem of the entire planet, its causes and effects can be felt even on the individual level. I am sure there are enough articles on the subject on the Internet, so I won't go into those details here.

But, what I will say is that like most problems that affect us, even this one can be solved if we take action rather than accept the situation as given. The action could be as small as planting a tree in your neighborhood or as large as starting a global movement, but it is us, as individuals, who can tackle this problem.

Do you think Global Warming is a real problem , or do you think it is just another gimmick?

Definitely a real problem, but unfortunately, it doesn't have any sense of immediacy to it. Most people won't act until the rising sea level actually has water lapping at their doorstep

I think global warming is a serious and very real problem. But I also think that a lot of companies etc are using it as something of a gimmick and not really taking it as seriously as they should. Thanks for such a thought provoking post (here from BE)

It's definitely a problem. Then there's global dimming, which results from all the crud in the atmosphere blocking the sun's light from getting to the earth. That causes some folks to say there is no global warming and to keep their heads buried in the sand.

There are so many ways to make a difference for the better. Thanks for the reminder, Neo.

rather than worry bout global warming (al gore vs detractors, etc & conspiracy theories...)

would rather worry bout whether life is sustainable for us in a way that is good for our life. and if no, what do we need to do. and if yes, what we can do to continue to ensure sustainability.
