It seems that the powers that control weather were waiting for me to post about global warming. For no sooner had I posted about global warming, the temperatures began to fall.
This last week has seen our town reeling under severe cold. It is reported - in the papers - that last week we had the coldest night in the last fifteen years. I don't know if I believe that but I can tell you it was a very cold night.
One of the downsides of the low sub-zero temperatures has been the freezing of water in the pipes resulting in no water to our building for the last two days. For now, we have water in our taps, thanks to the storage tanks, but if the pipes remain frozen for another couple of days...it will be a huge problem, to say the least.
Most of the times we realise the importance of a thing when we have lost it, or when we are about to lose it. And therein lies the blessings of problems. They remind us to be thankful for things, like running water in our taps, that we take so much for granted. Don't you agree?

I do agree! Bursting pipes is one of our biggest fears. We've helped neighbors whose homes have been badly damaged as a result of all the water in those pipes.
Plumbing is a great blessing.
I hope you warm up, Neo!
Boy do I agree with you here! I do hope your pipes don't burst with the freezing too!!!
Happy BYB Sunday, and have a great week ahead!! I hope the pipe situation is resolved quickly!!!
I keep telling my kids: BE A PLUMBER and you'll always be employed!
Thanks for putting this blogroll together.
Have a good week.
You know we have been dealing with frozen pipes for weeks here so I feel your pain.
It is true that we don't realize things until they are gone....read about that in a book called Wisdom from the Batcave this week.(review available on my Book Blog, if interested.)
Stay warm, this too must pass they say.
Blessings,
Mama Bear
Running water is a blessing, whether in our taps or in our rivers. Hope you are not on the first floor when those pipe thaw.
Hope you are warming up now.
Happy BYB Sunday.
"Your pipes are frozen!"
I never thought that phrase could bring someone so much happiness, but my mother-in-law seemed to think it was worth smiling about.
On the other hand, my father-in-law thought it was a good thing because he created this weird styrofoam thingie that he put over the pipes, which caused them to thaw.
I love my father-in-law. And running water is so much nicer when it's actually running.
always takes the worst for us to appreciate the best :P
