BYBS - My Best Friend

I wonder how life would have been if the person who discovered lenses, had not discovered them...and how life would have been without lenses?

People with perfect eyesight might not understand the blessings of the lenses, but for someone like me, who has had to resort to wearing spectacles for more than ten years now, lenses are a great blessing.

I remember, at school, I was not able to make anything much of what was written on the blackboard. But, naturally, I thought that this is how it was...that no one was able to read what was written on the blackboard. How everyone was noting down every word written on the blackboard on their notebooks was a mystery to me.

Then, one day, it dawned on me. I needed glasses. I was devastated. Quite unlike the present times, where my 12 year old cousin wants to get spectacles to look stylish, in our times wearing spectacles made you stand out, and not in a good way.

But, what is to be done, has to be done. I was soon walking around with the contraption on my face. And I fell in love with the device, because it showed me that part of the world, that I did not know even existed.

Since that day, I have never parted with my best friend!

YES! Glasses are indeed a blessing for those of us who need them. Sometimes, it is the simple, ordinary thing that is the best blessing of all!

I will have my blessing post up soon. . . working on it now.

Glasses are wonderful friends. I sat on my friend a year ago and haven't been the same sense. Never got them replaced.

I am glad glasses are a style statement now and not a source of stigma. How times change!

Happy BYB Sunday.

Wow! I work for an ophthalmological company readying the instruments for optometrists and opthamologists to examine and even operate on eyes... even "edgers" for grinding lenses... and the doctors I deal with would love this blessing!

You are ever so right! Those that do not know the need can not appreciate the blessing in one being able to see what they see. The last thing I do before I lie down at night is remove my glasses and put them on first in the morning.

Also really liked your post about the white sheet. Makes one stop and think about the dots and the spots.

"My best friend" --- that's a good description :-) The first time I got glasses it was literally like getting a window into a different world. I also liked that they sort of worked like goggles in the sense that I was no where near as scared of things touching my eyes when I wore them.
