BYBS : Milestones

(To join Blog Your Blessings Sunday, and get your name on the blogroll, click on the banner above and follow the simple instructions.)

Life is a journey. Just like a journey, there are times when we really enjoy life and then there are times when we wish the journey to be over. But, unlike a journey, in life we do not have the choice to end it anytime we want to. The journey of life is one journey that we have to carry on till we reach our destination.

When we set out on a long journey, we are on a constant look out for milestones as they tell us how much of our journey is over, how much is left, and also whether we are on the right track. Similarly, there are milestones in our lives - some that we know are there and we are always on the look out for them, and some that come as a pleasant surprise.

Milestones - expected, or not - are a a great motivation to a person. If we do not come across a milestone for a long time, the journey begins to get boring and we begin to lose interest in it. Eventually, we might even begin to wonder if we are on the right track, or perhaps we have taken a wrong turn somewhere? Therefore milestones are an absolute must - not just for keeping our motivation levels high, but also to keep us going.

Then, there are milestones that provide us reasons to celebrate. For example the first (and hopefully last) love, the first job, the first child etc. The more milestones of these kind we have in our lives, the better the journey of our lives become.

So, this week, I hope that each and every one of us finds the many milestones that we are looking for in our lives.

Yes, milestones are a way of life--some pleasant, some not--always a part of the journey and hopefully a learning experience.

Enjoy your week.

Your posts always lead me back to thinking about those simple, and so vital, lifestones that I forget. Thank you for this and your other posts.

Thank you for the reminder and your 'well-wishes' for the coming week, and may you similarly encounter meaningful milestones in the coming week.
Hugs and blessings,

milestones... goals... we should have many of these in our lives

still to me it's only truly meaningful if these milestones are something we have to work for to achieve & not just for 'being around' :P

milestones to spur on our accomplishments - true that!

You make a good point, the only thing was that I couldn't come up with any milestones from my own pathetic life.

But all that has changed!
Or at least I managed to come up with an example.

Either way, sorry it took 2 weeks to comment, but I was thinking about your post :-)
