BYBS : The Sweet Ache

(To join Blog Your Blessings Sunday, and get your name on the blogroll, click on the banner above and follow the simple instructions.)

Initially, I was thinking about making Blog Your Blessings Sunday (BYB) my blessing for the week. The most important reason for doing that would be the fact that, at present, BYB has become my only window to blogging. I think if it was not for BYB, I would not have blogged at all in the last few weeks. So, having BYBS around is a great blessing because it is my sole motivator to blog these days.

I am sure all of us look into the mirror at least once every day ( for some, I am sure, the number many times more than 1). Every time we look into the mirror, we see somethings that we like, and some that we don't. Invariably, we also tell ourselves to watch our diet and start exercising when we observe that the little bulge under the shirt has started getting a bit bigger.

But, then, life happens and that bulge gets bigger and there are other parts of our body that begin to show symptoms that we don't like at all. Things go from bad to worse, until one fine morning we decide that enough is enough. We tell ourselves that from tomorrow everything will change; We will get up early in the morning, and we will work out, jog or play a sport. Anything to get fit and stay that way.

The first step in this direction is getting the right shoes and dress (Didn't we read somewhere that wearing the wrong shoes can cause more harm than good?). With all that ready we actually get up and do as we planned. We do the work out, or go for that jog, or play that sport.

What happens the next morning (sometimes the same evening) is simply bliss. We feel the sweet ache of our sore muscles. Muscles, that had lain dormant for years and were put to use after such a long time. We can actually see that fat disappearing and, muscle taking its place, in the ache of our sore muscles.

For me, that is the best part of any exercise. The sweet ache that tells us that our body is changing, and changing for the better.

A word of caution : If you engage in any physical activity after a long time and the next morning your body hurts in a painful way, you should actually go see a doctor.

Okay, to quote an American comedienne, "No pain, no pain!"

Seriously though, for me it's not the pains... it's the sense of accomplishment as my favourite exorcise if hiking... so setting a goal and seeing it through!

...which I suppose is what you're saying, just with "pain" as the reminder of the end-goal...

...me, I can do without the pain!

So true, Neo. There's nothing like feeling exercise work. And seeing the difference.

Have a blessed week!

I think I am much better and can blog regularly again -- you can read about my blessing after the accident . Not completely healed but ok to try typing again. I have given up several of the weekly blogs I participated in and kept only this one -- which I need more than the rest, a Monday one a friend I know in real life started and a once a month challenge.

Blogging can be a blessing if you don't let it tie you down. I am happy to see you post today.

My weakness is formal exercise. I do not do it. I work in the garden and I work around the house, but that gives me a back ache. I guess I will never know the sweet ache.

Neo, is everything okay with you otherwise?

Getting back into a regular exercise habit is something that I need to do soon ... and your post is a timely reminder for me. Thank you ... and best wishes on your journey.
Hugs and blessings,

OK, your scaring me. I wrote up my not-really-bybs post before I read this. Honest.
