This is the 100th post on this blog - time for celebrations, cheer and a contest. It’s also the end of another year and endings, like partings, leave one a little sad, a little nostalgic and wanting for more. But however much we want it to stop, when time decides to fly by, we can only watch it glide by and leave us behind.
The end of the year usually brings with it a wide variety of announcements about the best and worst of 2006. So, I decided to do a little poll myself to choose the best post of 2006 on “Life among other things…”. I had a hard time choosing the three posts that would be competing in the poll. I finally decided to choose three that had a higher than usual number of comments and were posts that I enjoyed writing as well as reading.
I know most of us are hard pressed for time at this time of the year, so I wont give you the link to each post and make your job difficult (though I would like it very much if you went and read each post), but I will post a paragraph, along with the link, to help you decide where you want your vote to go:
A) Simple life!!!

“It is said that when two people are thinking, they will find something to disagree about. So, does that mean that there are no universal answers to these universal questions? If that is true then why are the problems universal. Why are we able to relate to something that we read in a text that was written in a very different age and place? Different people living in different parts of the world are facing the same basic problem. These problems can be as basic as food, clothing and shelter or they can be as complex as the needs for self actualization-the need for a person to be the best he can be.”
“One of the many factors that have brought about these changes are machines. Today, we depend on machines of some sort or the other right from the day we are born to the day we breath our last. In fact machines, like an ultrasound machine, invade our lives even before we have seen the light of day.’
C) Blog Your Blessings
“A couple of posts back, I floated the idea of a Sunday where Bloggers blogged about the good things in life; things that bring a smile on one's face, even in the most desperate situations. There are moments and people like these around us everywhere, all we have to do is look carefully.”
The winner post will be re-posted on January 1st 2006. I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to participate in this poll.
As a part of the the “100th post on this blog” celebrations, I have decided to give 25 BE credits to any member of Blog Explosion who comments on this post.
Also, as a contest and an excuse to avoid making a BYB banner this Sunday, I would like everyone to try and make a Blog Your Blessings –cum- Happy New Year banner to be used on this blog. You are free to choose the size and the theme for the banner. Every member of BE who tries to make one will be rewarded 50 credits, and if your banner is used on the 31st December post, you will be rewarded 500 credits.
Have A Happy New Year and see you all on the other side of 2007!!!

I admire your ability to think of ways to get people to comment. I've always had a hard time with that on my blog. Good luck with the poll and the banner.
Merry Christmas And Happy New Year!!
I usually enjoy reading all your posts. Don't make me choose!
Happy New Year from the UK!
You have a great blog here. I like to read blogs that try to keep things uplifting in nature versus a "the world hates me" type of mentality. Also, love the Blog Your Blessings idea. Don't know how I missed that.
Happy New Year, Neo!!! May you see another 100 posts and more in the future...
Same to ya.
Happy New Year!!!
I went with the Blog Your Blessings entry because it reminded me of this entry I wrote in my old blog:
Thanksgiving In August
Happy New Years!!

Congrats on your 100th posting!
My vote definitely goes to BYBS --- been very good for me personally to take a moment to blog each week about something positive.
