BYBS - Meri Maa (My Mother)

(To join Blog Your Blessings Sunday, and get your name on the blogroll, click on the banner above and follow the simple instructions.)

Mein kabhi batlata nahi ... Per andhere se darta hoon mein Maa
( I never say this...but I am scared of the dark, Mother)

Yun to mein dikhlata nahi...Teri parwah karta hoon Mein maa
(Although I never show it...But I care about you, Mother)

Tujhe sab hai pata hai na Maa
(You know everything...don't you, Mother)

Tujhe sab hai pataaaa Meri Maa
( You know everything...don't you, my Mother)

These are the opening lines of a song from a Hindi movie "Taare Zameen Pe". The movies deal with the subject of a dyslexic child and the expectations of his parents. The subject is not new but the way the story has been told is quite touching and it is almost impossible not to feel for the young boy.

Before I had seen the movie, I had heard from a lot of quarters that the movie was a real tear-jerker, so I was well prepared when I sat down to watch the movie. There were many points in the movie where the tears could have flown, but I managed to keep them in check.

But, I must admit that I was almost moved to tears when the above mentioned song came on. Though it is in Hindi but I am sure the video will get the message across - breaking the barriers of language and country. For, a child's love for his mother and the mother's love for her child does not really need a language.

I am a mother and most stories about mothers and children linger on me. Your last line in this post is so true. A mother's love is unconditional too,

I have to concur with Sandy... "powerful"... I'm kind of at a small loss for words... as these stories are something everyone can understand. Thanks for sharing it...

Oh, that is so sad. Tell me it ends with his mom coming to get him from the school.

It ends with the parents understanding the needs of the child, and the child beginning to enjoy himself at the school.

Happy Ending! :o)
